“Working with different disciplines brings in different inputs, when combined they create rich and surprising outcome.”
Since her graduation (summa cum laude from the Design Academy, Eindhoven) she developed a coherent body of work characterized by experimental and research based design and she explored the relationship between disciplines or different worlds in her investigations. As a mediator, she is interested in forging links between my research-based practice and the design industry. Therefore and besides her own multidisciplinary work, she is a caregiver for people with the Alzheimer’s Disease and works as guest tutor and lecturer at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in Den Haag and at the department Product Design of ArtEZ in Arnhem. Sharing knowledge but also understanding the life of people and their well being is important to her.
Whether designing for a client, investigating alternative applications of materials, research the power of colour and light, Laura Lynn applies the same rigorous attention to context, process and detail to every project she undertakes. The added nuance is that she does so with keeping an eye on context nowadays and the urgency to create a better well being.
As a result, her works where shown by well known galleries, international fairs and musea (Bozar – Brussels, MUDAC – Lausanne, Maison et Objet Paris, 21_21 design sight – Tokyo, Artipelag – Stockholm, Salone del Mobile – Milan, Dutch Design Week – Eindhoven, etc.) and several times her work was selected by world famous Li Edelkoort.
